Zotac’s RTX 2080 AMP graphics card costs $ 659 at B&H Photo for readers. The edge. With a previous price of $ 809 at B&H and as low as $ 739 directly through Zotac, it is the biggest price drop we’ve seen for this particular model.
There are some third-party RTX 2080 models that can be found for $ 699, but Zotac’s AMP card stands out at that price with three fans, to be used if you overclock. This model can be safely overclocked to a higher clock speed (1,830MHz compared to 1,800MHz on the $ 799 Founders’ Edition version of the GPU) for better performance.
If you want smooth frame rates on a 4K display, the $ 1,199 high-end RTX 2080 Ti is the best option, but the RTX 2080 finds its sweet spot on a 1440p monitor. In our review of the card, we said: “If you plan to play at 1440p and don’t intend to upgrade to 4K anytime soon, the RTX 2080 strikes the right balance of price and performance.”
If you’re willing to overclock the GPU, you’ll outgrow the Founders Edition card, which is the most expensive, which was the test subject in the review. Although, even without overclocking, it should hold up to even the most demanding games of the next few years, even if ray tracing doesn’t take off.
There’s another good reason to take the plunge during this sale period – you’ll get three sets with purchase: Metro: Exodus, AnthemY Battlefield v. Before buying, make sure your power supply is at least 650W, or else you are likely to have problems with game crash or worse, some potentially dangerous hardware issues may arise.
