Personally, I do not consider myself a consecrated athlete, however I enjoy when I can do some sport, and that is why those who practice any sport discipline continuously will agree with me that sports implements are not cheap at all. This is the case, for example, of those people who enjoy taking a bike ride, either for health and entertainment or as an alternative means of transportation these days when cities are so crowded with cars. And since having a good bike is not cheap, we all want to protect our investment as best as possible.
Yerka Project, The bicycle that cannot be stolen
Sometimes, in the world of technology, the best ideas turn out to be the simplest, and it is not for nothing that the saying “less is more” is so popular. Thinking about it (and of course in current security) a group of engineering students from the Adolfo Ibañez University of Chile made up of Andrés Roi, Juan José Monsalve and Cristóbal Cabello developed the Yerka Project, which it is a bicycle that transforms into a lock with its own chassis making it practically impossible to steal. The idea of these young people has been quite well received not only locally but they are already drawing attention outside their country, thanks to their website where they promote the idea, so they have gotten to work patenting their idea, and working on the development of new prototypes of your bicycle, to then market them directly or through licenses as soon as the project is mature.
The operation of this bike to secure it is quite simple. In the current model, the user only has to disassemble the seat tube and then connect it with the chassis from the pedals to the handlebars, forming a lock. This allows the bike to be anchored to any traditional bike post or rack using its own frame.
In this video you can see in a practical way the operation of the Yerka Project bicycle.
