WhatsApp will soon launch a new feature called “Disappearing Messages”, which will automatically delete all messages in a conversation after a fixed interval. This feature will be available only for group chats and will be placed in the “Group Settings” option, according to a report by WABetaInfo.

Once the feature is active, group administrators will be able to set the length of time messages are active in the group. According to the report, you only see time slots of five seconds and one hour from now. WhatsApp could add more when the feature is released to the public.

The feature is currently in its alpha stage of development, which means it is there in the application code. However, as of now, it is not activated for people to use it. It is also said that it will not launch anytime soon and that the company will take a while before launching it.

As of now, the feature is only displayed in group chats. But nevertheless, WABetaInfo states that they expect the feature to be available for personal chats as well.
