Twitter has been testing the ‘Tags’ feature on its beta platform for some time and now it appears that the feature is coming out of beta and making its way to the main platform.
The feature would tag each person in a Twitter thread to create transparency. For example, if someone tweets about something and mentions someone in the tweet, the person being mentioned gets a tag called “mentioned” when they reply to the tweet. The person who tweeted gets the tag “author” if they reply to their tweet.
“We want to make it easy to follow and join the conversations on Twitter. We are testing ‘Tags’ on responses: Author, Mentioned and Next,” Twitter announced on April 4.
According Social media today, Twitter has usage data collected by various feedback reports that have contributed to this feature. There is also a color-coded version of ‘Tags’ which is being tested in the beta test app.
