I wanted to start 2015 with a good rock, and with a song that has a really great story, it’s about Layla, the story of the love triangle between Eric Clapton, Pattie Boyd and then-Beatle George Harrison. It happens that Eric Clapton collaborated with the Beatles in the recording of some songs and ended up falling in love with the wife of Harrrison, his good friend. To make matters worse, Pattie reciprocated and they managed to see each other sneakily on occasion. In honor of her, Clapton composed a love song for her that is one of the rock icons, recognized by Rolling Stone magazine as the 27th song of the 500 best songs of all time. To close the story, it turned out that Pattie divorced Harrison in 1977 and ended up marrying Clapton in 1979 and as incredible as it may seem, Harrison attended the wedding with his fellow Beatles in what would be a great rock novel. To the sadness of both musicians, the adored Pattie did not last long with Clapton either and in 1989 they divorced. Over the years Pattie wrote a book where she recounts in great detail what this curious love story was, of which we have an excellent rock theme.
