StuffIt, one of the tools most used by Mac users for file compression, has increased its capabilities as well as features.
The new version 12 adds a new compression engine that improves the efficiency of the StuffIt X file format when compressing audio files in MP3 format, as well as high-quality images saved in PDF, TIFF, PNG, GIF and BMP formats. The software can compress 24-bit images without affecting the quality, and MP3 files without deteriorating the audio quality, according to the developer.
The new formats supported by StuffIt Deluxe 12 are Micorosoft Office 2007 and iWork 07. StuffIt Deluxe can now compress any image or sound clip embedded in a Pages, Numbers or Keynote document.
The system requirements are Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
