Sony updates the PSP software

The software makes the PSP compatible with video encoded as H.264 at resolutions of 720 x 480 pixels, plus it now also displays video preview images.

Additionally, the system also supports a larger number of PlayStation Network titles (games originally developed for the PlayStation One console and available for purchase and download through the PlayStation 3 console).

The new network setting mode, “Use Wireless Hotspot”, allows PSP users to use public Wi-Fi connections to play online against other PSP users.

Sony’s portable gaming system, PSP, also offers extensive multimedia capabilities, such as the playback of digital photos, movies and audio. It can also be used to browse the web, subscribe to RSS news, etc. When connected to a Mac data can also be synchronized through the use of third party utilities.
