After all Galaxy Fold debacle Samsung indefinitely displayed the official launch date of the device. While for quite some time it seemed uncertain that the South Korean giant would even launch the device, now it seems that we may soon hear a release date, after all.
According to a report by The Korean Herald, Samsung CEO DJ Koh has said that the company will finalize a date for today or tomorrow in which it will reveal the official launch date of the device.
Koh has said in his interview with The Korean Herald that the company “has reviewed the defect caused by substances [that entered the device], and we will come to a conclusion today or tomorrow. [on the launch]. “
From this statement, it would appear that the company has come up with a solution for the large hole in the hinge. A previous iFixit report In the teardown of the Galaxy Fold, which has since been lowered, a gap of almost 7mm was observed at the bottom of the hinge through which dust and sand could penetrate the device.
Many review units experienced the screen breaking or not working within a day of use thanks to this gap near the hinge. Others destroyed their screens after peeling off what they believed to be a layer of screen protection. This issue was not mentioned in Koh’s statement, but we assume Samsung will take it into account before launching the device.
