Based on the same engine used in Roxio’s popular CD and DVD burning tool, Toast 8 Titanium, Popcorn 3 allows users to convert DVD digital video for playback on iPod, iPhone, PlayStation Portable (PSP ) and other portable devices, or through Apple TV. It also incorporates presets for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and BlackBerry smartphones.
In this version, Popcorn 3 supports TivoToGo and DVD-Video conversion in batches. Pause and Continue buttons have also been added to the encoding window, so that control of the CPU can be taken back if necessary.
Now it is also possible to preview the converted video to check the quality before launching the full encoding process, as well as to use the Elgato Turbo.264 device to speed up the processing of the videos. Popcorn 3 can create DVDs of up to four hours in length, and the software also comes with a disc labeling application.
