PhoneValet Home Edition improves iPhone support

PhoneValet Home Edition is the Macintosh version of Parliant’s phone call center system, scaled up for home users. It allows a family with a Macintosh to use their computer as a call center from home. It can be used to answer calls, redirect voicemail via email, handle unwanted calls, play specific ringtones, or make calls.

In version 1.1 of the product, support for the iPhone has been improved. The software now uses the 3GPP format to send audio when messages are being checked. Parliant indicates that its size has been reduced considerably, to 50 percent, an aspect that will improve the performance of the EDGE network of the iPhone. PhoneValet Home Edition users must update their iPhone software to version 1.1.2 or higher.

Other changes include improved support for international phone lines, updating the country list, and troubleshooting the Calendar panel in the PhoneValet app. The software can also be tested without the need for a modem to be connected to the Mac.

PhoneValet Home Edition requires a G4 or higher (including Intel-based computers), Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, Apple USB modem or a compatible internal modem, and a standard analog telephone line with touch tone. Some features use the CallerID feature.
