Panasonic introduces SDR-S10 camera with SD / SDHC recording

With a waterproof construction, the SDR-S10 incorporates a 10x optical zoom lens, 2.7-inch widescreen LCD and a faster start-up function due to the non-mechanical recording medium. Regarding the recording medium, it supports SDHC memory cards with a maximum capacity of 4 GB and SD cards of 2 GB, with the possibility of recording 100 minutes and 60 minutes respectively.

The SDR-S10 uses the MPEG-2 compression system for video recording, and includes a USB 2.0 connector for connecting the camcorder so that the video movies recorded on the memory card can be transferred to the computer.

The design of this compact camera and the use of memory cards as recording media also make it a more resistant device against small impacts compared to cameras in which other mechanical systems are used.

Among the main technical characteristics, the 1/6 inch CCD offers a total of 800,000 effective pixels in which 16: 9 recording is supported; 10x optical zoom can reach a maximum of 700x in digital mode, offering an equivalent focal length of 44.4 to 444mm. For sound capture, it incorporates a stereo microphone with wind noise reduction.

The price of the SDR-S10 is 430 EUR and will be available from next April.
