Palm hires ex-Apple employee to design new products

As an Apple worker, Mercer contributed to the development of the Finder on Mac OS 7. He also founded the company that helped Apple develop the first version of the iPod interface.

A New York Times article indicates that Mercer has been working at Palm for the past three weeks on a “new product range,” although Palm has made no official statement on what products are involved.

Mercer began his career at Apple in 1987. His most recent projects include contributing to the design of Samsung’s Z5 MOP3 player, a device sold only in South Korea.
