Original content of the podcast: the battle of opinions on ‘Game of …

This post and podcast contain spoilers for “Game of Thrones” and “Avengers: Endgame”.

“The Long Night,” the long-awaited episode of “Game of Thrones” in which the living and the dead meet in a desperate epic battle, was not fully accepted by fans of the show. Instead, many complained about the (literal) darkness of the episode, while others were disappointed by the apparent disappearance of the show’s old cruelty.

But your hosts on the original content podcast (joined this week by our original co-host, Darrell Etherington) were very happy with the episode, as revealed in a large discussion.

Yes, the darkness was a problem, but the creative team used that darkness to get a hauntingly beautiful effect. On the right screen, everything in the episode was a great and terrifying show. And while we discussed some of the storytelling options, we also yelled in surprise at the end of the episode.

The other big question is what the death of the Night King means for the last three episodes of the show. Time will tell, but for now we are waiting for a return to the initial focus on political schemes and moral compromise.

As if that wasn’t enough for a podcast, we also reviewed the other last week’s big pop cultural event “Avengers: Endgame”, and in doing so we captured the exact moment that Jordan realized that “Endgame” will not be the last Marvel movie.
