If you’ve been struggling to get AirPlay Netflix content through iOS devices on Apple TV, you’re not alone. Netflix has reported stopped supporting AirPlay Due to some inexplicable reasons.
Netflix has supported streaming AirPlay from iOS devices to Apple TV since 2013. It allowed users to stream content from an iOS device directly to an Apple TV. However, the company on its help page notes that support has been disabled due to technical limitations, Engadget reported.
It is not clear what these limitations are. However, the timing coincides with Apple’s latest introduction of Netflix competitor Apple TV + and a new AirPlay 2 protocol.
Apple TV and other AirPlay-ready devices will include a built-in Netflix app. It can work with the Cast or AirPlay Mirroring button. However, the registration process will be cumbersome without the use of a phone or tablet.
Later, Netflix responded to the report and issued a statement saying that the streaming giant had withdrawn support for AirPlay due to the increasing number of third-party devices that support AirPlay.
“With AirPlay compatibility with third-party devices, there is no way we can distinguish between devices (what is an Apple TV or what is not) or certify these experiences. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue Netflix” AirPlay support ensures our display quality standard is met. Members can continue to access Netflix from the app built into Apple TV and other devices, “the Netflix statement reads.
