However, unlike China, Europe doesn’t get the fake transparent back with the Mi 9 Explorer Edition or the diluted Mi 9 SE.

Mi 9: Key design and specifications.

Xiaomi’s Mi 9 looks quite different when it comes to design and overall appearance compared to previous Xiaomi flagships. This time, the company opted for a glass and metal sandwich design with what Xiaomi likes to call a “holographic” color scheme. Xiaomi’s product team head Donovan Sung, while on stage, mentions that the company uses a complex three-layer process to make the curved rear look superior and attractive.

The Mi 9 gets a 6.39-inch Samsung-made Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. There is no slider this time around and Xiaomi has taken a more conventional approach this time with a water drop notch. There is also an in-display fingerprint scanner that has become a common feature on flagships in recent days.

The Xiaomi also includes long-lasting shortcuts in the in-display fingerprint scanner that cannot be customized yet, but it adds additional functionality to the scanner. The Mi 9 also features a hardware hotkey to open an AI voice assistant of choice.

On the inside, we have Qualcomm Snapdragon 855’s top-quality Socom which makes Xiaomi one of the select few manufacturers to have a device running Qualcomm’s most capable hardware. Thogh Xiaomi has yet to explicitly say, the Mi 9 will not feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem, which would make it the company’s first 5G-ready smartphone instead of the Mi Mix 3 5G.

The Mi 9 features a triple camera setup for the first time with a 48 MP main camera, a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom, and a 16 MP wide-angle camera with a 117-degree field of view. Xiaomi says it is also using “AI’s Ultra Wide Angle Distortion Correction” to fix the edges of those super wide shots and effectively treat barrel distortion.

Up front, we have a single 20 MP f / 2.0 shooter along with a feature that has worked quite well on Xioami phones previously and that is the company’s software-driven portrait mode. To show off a bit, Xioami also had the Mi 9 evaluated by DXOMark obtaining a score of 107 points. This total score places it in third place, two points behind the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the P20 Pro.

Xiaomi was even able to boast of the fact that the Mi 9 scored a total of 107 on DXOMark, which is higher than the one it just released. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.

The Mi 9 also gets a 3,300 mAh battery along with a 27-watt fast-charging adapter supplied in the box.

Mi LED Smart Bulb: Price and Specifications

Xiaomi’s keynote at MWC surely wasn’t all about smartphones. The company launched two types of affordable smart LED bulbs that can be controlled with Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. There is the price of EUR 19.99 My smart LED bulb with support for 16 million colors and a Philips WiFi Bulb E27 smart bulb with a solid white color but with the dimming functions.

Both smart bulbs are also compatible with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which means you can yell at your phone to turn the lights off or on and also change the colors of the light by talking to your assistant on the phone.
