There are great national and international fairs for lovers of Comic, Manga and Geek culture in general, but Cali was one of those cities in which until now there was no annual fair of this category in large format.
Last weekend he held the first edition of Nación Geek, an event dedicated to the cosplay lovers, video games, merchandising and performances of childhood idols. We were able to enjoy all this in the 4 days that the event lasted, and which we hope will be repeated next year as it has a lot of potential ahead.
Although in this first edition of Nación Geek merchandising prevailed over experiences, there was no lack of presentations and contests that enrich this type of experience so much. For example, in my pass through the event on Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet Juan Guillermo Aguirre Mandiola, better known to the geek world as Captain Memo, famous for having interpreted in the 80s the openings and endings of multiple anime series and cartoons such as He-Man, Little Lulu, Fantastic 4 and Captain Future among many others.
On the main Geek Nation platform too the comedian Iván Marín appeared who told us about his recent experience doing the voice of Lego Batman in Spanish. In addition, we had the opportunity to attend one of his stand up comedy numbers in which he took us on a hilarious tour of all the animated series of the 80s and 90s that we all identify with.
For gamers, the fair prepared a small museum of retro consoles, and a space with the latest generation PCs to do eSports tournaments. Overall it was an excellent weekend plan. I leave you with a gallery of tophi from the event.
