FileMaker publishes a compatibility update

The update resolves an issue that caused FileMaker to hang when creating files when there was no match between the language and region selected for the system. However, the update does not address problems with the FileMaker Pro 9 Instant Web Publishing (IWP) feature when running on Leopard.

The update that solves the web publishing problem is scheduled for next December 2007, according to the developer.

The update also does not cover the company’s server products, which are expected to be updated for FileMaker Server 9 and FileMaker Server 9 Advanced in early 2008. For now, FileMaker Server versions cannot run properly on Leopard.

However, FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced clients running on Leopard will be able to work with FileMaker Server and Server Advanced on Mac OS X Tiger or earlier versions.
