EyeTV makes it easy to record TV channels on your Mac (using compatible hardware, such as Elgato’s own peripherals). You can schedule recordings up to two weeks in advance, create playlists with your favorite channels, manage scheduled recordings, edit advertisements or unwanted content, create clips, and export to different file formats, including includes iPod.
Version 2.5 adds the ability to export by one click to formats optimized for playback on the iPhone and iPod Touch. EyeTV allows you to access the EyeTV recordings library over a local Wi-Fi connection through a web server running from the software.
The ability to record video from a live buffer has also been incorporated, so that while watching a live program you can press the record button to record it to disk.
The EyeTV playback window can be configured as a floating window so that it is positioned above the rest of the windows, and it can also be moved and resized, even while the Picture-in-Picture (PIP) function is in use. Other improved features include performance when playing HDTV content such as H.264, and support for the timeshifting feature for analog TV tuners that do not incorporate hardware compression.
