EMC Updates Retrospect for Leopard

Retrospect offers Mac users the creation of automated backups for servers, desktops and laptops. It also supports the creation of backup copies on disk, tape, CD and DVD. Retrospect can run on a single machine or back up any system on the network. Additionally, it supports library and autoloader systems in its Desktop, Workgroup and Server configurations.

Retrospect 6.1.138 adds support for Mac OS X 10.5. This new version is required for full and duplicate restores, according to EMC. If an older version of Retrospect is used, it will not be possible to restore the restored system.

EMC indicates that backing up or duplicating data for Time Machine is not supported. Retrospect Express detects the information for Time Machine and adds the corresponding entry to the log generated by the product. Backups and duplicates created with previous versions of Retrospect Express will stop working when Time Machine information is found, according to information released by the developer.
