One of the most successful devices that Samsung has launched in recent years was the Samsung J5 and its different versions such as 2016 and Prime. One of the most common questions before purchasing a new mobile device is which one is right for me? What are the differences between these versions? Today we are going to answer that question, we are going to see what are the differences between the Samsung J5 2016 and Samsung J5 Prime.

Differences between the Samsung J5 2016 and J5 Prime

In terms of dimensions, there are certain differences being that the 2016 version has some 145.8 x 72.3 x 8.1 mm, with a weight of 146 grams, the materials with plastics and does not have LED notifications. On the other hand, its Prime version has dimensions of 142.7 x 69.5 x 8.1 mm, weighs a little less, although not too much about 143 grams. In turn, its material is metal and it has notification LEDs, being much better then the Prime.

As for the screen, things are a little closer, because the 2016 features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED with a resolution in HD 720p with a density per pixel of 294 ppi. Being that the Prime has a 5-inch Capacitive TFT with the same resolution and the same density per pixel.

It obviously changes in terms of operating system since the Samsung J5 2016 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop. With a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 4010 Quad Core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM. If we go to the version side Prime we already find Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, plus an Exynos 7570 with a 1.4 GHz Quad-Core CPU and 2 GB of RAM.

In terms of cameras we could say that it is a clear tie since both have a 13 MP rear and a 5 MP front.

To finish we find a storage space of 8 GB in the case of 2016 and its Prime version has double. Another difference is that the Prime has a fingerprint reader.

If we go to the issue of drums in 2016 it has a larger of 2600 mAh Li-Ion when the Prime has a 2400 mAh.

I don’t know about you, but for me the clear winner of this versus is undoubtedly the Samsung J5 Prime that has improved in most aspects, although they could have offered some more things such as battery and camera.
