Chandrayaan 2 landing date and time: where did the …

The Chandrayaan 2 mission to land an Indian lander and rover on the surface of the moon has been spectacular successful launch since its launch on July 22. As of September 6, the spacecraft’s lander (a composite of the Vikram lunar lander and the Pragyan rover) separated and entered independent orbits around the moon.

In the week before landing, ISRO carried out four successful maneuvers in orbit to bring the lander closer to the surface of the moon for its motorized descent and landing.

If all goes well, the Vikram lander is scheduled to begin its descent at 1.40am IST on September 7. The lander’s propulsion system will play an important task here, breaking the lander’s speed in a controlled manner. The engines will shut down long before the spacecraft touches the surface of the moon.

From the 30 km orbit, the lander will use until the landing is 15 minute window of “terror”. This 15 minute flight is one ISRO has never attempted before, making Chandrayaan 2 the most complex mission ISRO has ever undertaken. in the opinion of Dr. K Sivan, President of ISRO.

In the final seconds before landing, the Vikram lander will be assisted only by the moon’s gravity and not by the spacecraft’s thrusters. This movement will help the lander to prevent the small plume of lunar dust from covering the lander and, more importantly, its solar panels.

There are multiple sources to choose from to watch the landing live.
