MacBook, faster, improved graphics and more memory
The MacBook is now available with a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo processor in the middle and higher configurations, up from 2.16 GHz previously available. The processors have been updated to Intel’s new Santa Rosa architecture. Other aspects of the machines have also been improved, such as the maximum RAM memory expansion, which now reaches 4 GB (previously 2 GB), the front end bus has become 800 MHz compared to 667 MHz in the previous version. Finally, the graphics system has been updated to the Intel GMA X3100 which can now allocate 144 MB of memory, compared to the previous GMA 950 which could only use 64 MB.
As for the MacBook Pro, custom configuration options include a 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and larger hard drives.
