Apple launches Logic Studio with new MainStage app

At the heart of Logic Studio is Logic Pro 8, now with an intuitive single-window interface for instant access to powerful features for music creation and production, including precise sample editing directly in the Arrangement window. New audio production tools like “Quick Swipe Comping” and “Dynamic Channel Strip Creation” speed up common tasks.

Logic Pro 8 also includes comprehensive surround sound production capabilities with innovative surround panning controls, multi-channel tracks and buses, and support for software instruments and True Surround effects.

MainStage: the Mac to the stage

MainStage turns the Mac into a powerful audio system for live concerts and performances, producing consistent and reliable sound, whether the music is being made at home or in the studio, in the rehearsal room, or performing in front of an audience. On-screen controls link software plug-ins with hardware controls, sliders and buttons, so musicians can use their favorite gear when performing live. An easy-to-read interactive display, designed for viewing from a distance and in low ambient light, displays exactly the information needed on stage. Professional templates simplify testing and tuning, giving musicians more time to explore and create their own unique sounds.

Soundtrack Pro 2 is the bridge that links film soundtrack musicians with professional editing tools and seamless integration with film and video that simplifies all aspects of the audio post-production process. Musicians can compose their scores in Logic Pro 8 and then use Soundtrack Pro 2 to edit, design sound effects, and complete the mix in cinematic sound.

Studio Instruments. With 40 instrument plug-ins, it allows musicians to access and play almost any sound imaginable; includes refined versions of the Ultrabeat, Sculpture, and ES2 synthesizers, and the EXS24 sampler. Studio Effects also includes a new Delay Designer plug-in that offers full control over individual delay controls; and Space Designer, which now includes True Surround enhancements for multi-channel audio processing. Logic Studio offers musicians the extensive Studio Sound Library, which incorporates content from all five Jam Pack collections and Final Cut Studio 2, with a total of 18,000 Apple Loops, 1,300 EXS instruments, and 5,000 sound effects that span to a wide variety of genres and styles. Production utilities include WaveBurner for CD mastering, Compressor 3 for surround encoding, an Apple Loops utility, and a new Impulse Response utility for capturing the acoustics of actual performance spaces.
