While recording various audio sources on the Mac is not new, WireTap Studio provides two significant advancements: LivePreview and the audio editor.
WireTap Studio’s audio editor allows you to edit your audio in a non-destructive and easy-to-use interface. The application records a lossless master copy of each recording, so that if you later decide to increase the transfer rate, you can do so.
LivePreview offers the option to change formats and transfer rate on the fly, so that it is possible to listen to the changes and see the differences between an MP3 and AAC recording, for example. Ambrosia has said that LivePreview is a patent pending technology.
WireTap Studio is priced at $ 69 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. WireTap Pro licensed users (excluding OEM versions) can upgrade to the Studio version for a license fee of $ 30.
