The European Parliament will buy an iPad for each parliamentarian

That the iPad is more than a sweet tooth, is something that nowadays has no doubts and that it is called to be a catalyst in the electronic book market is, according to the main consultants, a fact. Perhaps these are the reasons that led the European Parliament to acquire 736 iPad, one for each MEP. In total, the citizens of the European Union will pay five million euros, within a global mobility initiative, in which the most striking purchase is that of the aforementioned iPads.

The decision to carry out this operation, which is part of the mobility project of the administrative office of the European body, has been promoted by Klaus Welle, a German MEP who, apparently, is a fan of Apple products, such as the iPhone, and it has been justified as a necessity to “be much more connected,” highlights the Times newspaper.

In this way, on May 28, the date on which the iPad arrives on the Old Continent, MEPs will be able to get rid of their current laptops (developed by HP), which have been described by some MEPs as “monstrous”, according to highlights the British publication.

It should be noted that not all MEPs are in favor of this acquisition. The opposition is represented by the British MEP Marta Andreasen described as “unnecessary purchase” and more in times of “crisis and difficulties”. In addition, he assured that the iPad will give problems to the older deputies, who, in many cases, do not know or use the Internet correctly ”.
