Sony Bloggie, Pocket Camcorders

The new Sony Bloggies arrive to compete with cameras like the Kodak Zi6 that we already analyzed in PC World Digital last spring. These are pocket cameras, which allow you to record video in high definition and, above all, share them very easily on social networks and blogs (the origin of their name). In the case of Bloggies, this simplicity has been taken to the point of integrating into the camera the applications necessary to share the contents in a portable version, so that the camera can be connected to any computer (Windows PC or Mac) using its retractable USB connector and handle it without installing any software.

The first camera in this range is the Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5K, which has a 5 megapixel sensor, being able to take photos at this resolution or videos at 1,920 x 1,080 / 30p, that is, Full HD, or 1,280 x 720 / 60p. The lens sits at the top on a module that can be rotated 270 degrees to make it easy to record yourself or use the camera in unusual positions. In addition, an accessory lens is included that, attached to the lens, records a circular image spanning 360 degrees around the camera. Using the included software, this image is unfolded to generate a panoramic video of the same 360 degrees or a video in the traditional 4/3 format, but in which you can choose which part of the panorama we see, and change it during playback .

The Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5K will be available in various colors from February for a price of 190 EUR, including the 360º adapter and a 4 GB Memory Stick (also SD / SDHC compatible).

At the moment this is the only model that Sony will market in Spain, although other formats may be found in other countries, such as the MHS-CM5 in a “pistol” format.

In addition, Sony has unveiled its new range of Cyber-Shot compact cameras and Handycam camcorders.
