QuarkXPress 8 is now available

QuarkXPress 8, announced last May, implements a new interface designed to facilitate and increase productivity in the production of layout projects. The software incorporates tools for the design of printed documents, web and also Flash authoring, as well as for advanced control of typography, and other global aspects related to publication.

Now users can move, rotate and scale images in real time using the graphic content tool, thus eliminating the need to enter numbers to make these modifications. Smart behavior has also been included for the Item Tool and the Text Content Tool, so that you no longer have to manually switch between them. The Bézier drawing tool has also been improved.

Workspace enhancements include instant access to layout pages and export to PDF, HTML, EPS, and SWF formats using new buttons at the bottom of the document window.

Among other changes, QuarkXPress 8 now supports drag and drop for images saved to the Desktop, Adobe Bridge, iPhoto, and other applications. You can also drag and drop QuarkXPress content into Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, and other applications for direct editing.

System requirements are Mac OS X 10.4 or later, G4 processor or better (including Intel), 1 GB of RAM, 1 GB of hard disk space, and DVD-ROM drive. Internet access is also required for product activation.
