In case you want to take your first steps with this Microsoft office application, then keep reading because this simple, but quite useful tutorial will come in handy.
Create a basic chart in Excel
What you have to do first is create a new Excel file with the data that you will then use in the graph in question. After having them, all you have to do is press on “Insert”Which is in the toolbar. In this section you will have a large number of elements that you can add to the table that you have created.
So in this section called “Insert“You will see a category near the middle that is called precisely”Graphics”. As you imagine, here you will find a great variety of graphs that you can add to the table.
Therefore, the first thing you are going to have to do is choose the graphic you want to use. You simply have to click on the icon in question. A pop-up menu is displayed and you will see a large variety of graphics to choose from.
Choose the one you want since this is a test, you can also change it later if you think it is appropriate.
As soon as you click on any of the graphs, you will see that a blank four appears in Excel, which is quite large. It is blank because you have yet to add all the data.
¿How we aggregate the data? It’s quite simple, you just have to click on the button that says “Select data“Which appears in the”Design”In the toolbar at the top. This section appears automatically once you add the graphics box.
A pop-up window opens which is called “Select data source”. In this place you will be able to select all the data that you want to show in the box in question.
Therefore, what you should do to start is go to the first option that says “Chart data range”Click on the icon on the right with an arrow pointing up.
As soon as you press on this icon, this four is minimized and you will be able to see the Excel sheet as before. What you have to do is choose the data that you are going to use in the chart and then press Enter to have it added.
Once you do, you will see that they end in a green rectangle and the code for that cell is in the small window of “Select data source”Automatically.
So once you have all the data selected the graph will be generated automatically. The “Select data source” box is still active and you can configure a few more things.
You will be able to configure the legend in “Legend entries (series)”On the left side to appear on the horizontal category axis. On the right side you can press the button “Edit”In order to choose the words you want to appear.
Once you close the “Select data sourceYou will be able to see the Excel completely, with everything created. In case you want to edit the graph, all you have to do is click on it and in this way an icon of a brush appears on the right side so that you can edit it.
The editing options are quite varied and you can choose a style. You can even select a color so that it is better represented in this way.
That would be all you have to do to have a basic chart in Excel. Obviously much more elaborate things can be created. But to start it is something simple and above all quite useful to present certain data.
