The announcement is made in conjunction with a listing of available jobs on the Id Software website. The company wants to renew itself with new designers, artists, animators, and programmers among other categories of work.
Todd Hollenshead, CEO of Id Software, has indicated that the company is looking for “the brightest and most talented minds” to create the next Doom game.
As Hollenshead stated, “It is critical for Id Software to have the most creative minds in the company to develop games that meet the standards of our games.”
Id Software has not specified details about Doom 4, such as the deployment platforms for the game. Job postings indicate that the company is looking for programmers with development experience for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. However, that doesn’t mean the Mac isn’t on the list.
Id Software’s games arrive regularly on the Mac thanks to agreements with companies like Aspyr Media. Id also has a Mac version of his upcoming Rage game planned.
