Google announces its browser: Chrome

Chrome will be a new alternative to Explorer, Firefox and Safari. It is presented as a free browser that is based on the WebKit rendering engine. The same as the one used by Safari and in the Google mobile operating system, known as Android.

Google will continue to provide more information about Chrome on the website that has been provided for this purpose and that is the official one for this new browser (www.google.com/chrome) but at the moment the website is not available.

According to what can be seen in the comic, as well as the news that has emerged about the browser, it will surely include all the Google applications already available and it will be oriented to the most popular web services. It will have tabbed browsing, a personalized start system (like iGoogle) and, according to the information disclosed, it will also be equipped with V8 team JavaScript and will bet heavily on the multimedia desktop and online office automation.

The launch of the beta version for Windows is scheduled to be today, while Mac users will have to wait a while yet to be confirmed.

At the moment, many of the most striking features that Chrome will have are unknown, but in Blogoscoped some screenshots of what this browser would be have been published.
