Apple becomes the second largest manufacturer of mobile devices

According to the Strategy Analytics study, Apple has surpassed RIM, thus becoming the second largest smartphone manufacturer on the market, behind Nokia.

Total smartphone sales in the third fiscal quarter have reached 77 million devices. Apple has obtained the highest growth, thus surpassing the manufacturer of the well-known BlackBerry. Nokia continues to lead this ranking, although it lags behind Apple in terms of profits in this important category of smartphones.

Apple’s growth has been thanks to the launch of the iPhone 4. In the previous quarter, Apple sold 14.1 million iPhones and in this, it has exceeded that figure by 91%.

Apple continues to climb its market share and is dangerously close to Nokia, after only three years in this market for smartphones. Although now you have to take into account other dangerous rivals such as Android-based devices.

For the moment, Apple is reaping the benefits it brings, a great hardware, software and application ecosystem. It will be interesting to see if it will be able to surpass the almighty Nokia in this segment of smartphones in the future.
