Twitter acquires Periscope mobile streaming app in response to Meerkat

Although it was announced a month ago, Meerkat is causing a sensation among users. Is a app that allows you to stream live video to users of devices using iOS operating system, you just need to capture the video and send it to your Twitter followers in real time.

Periscope it works very similarly, except for a few details. For example, Meerkat only allows you to watch the video at the moment it is transmitted, it cannot be played again, although the user can save it on their iPhone. On the other hand, Periscope, according to TechCrunch, does store the video for later playback. And, on the other hand, the comments made by the followers who view the video are published on Twitter, which, on the one hand, leaves them out of context and, on the other, can be embarrassing depending on the content that has been distributed.

With Periscope, which is still in beta and has not been released, will not happen, as comments made by followers at the time of broadcast are not syndicated to Twitter. Pericope also allows you to broadcast in public or in private for a few followers.

The day after the acquisition of Periscope was made public, BuzzFeed published that the social network has blocked Meerkat’s access to its ‘social graph’ (the ability to port a user’s followers from Twitter to its own service), which the function of importing contacts is inoperative.
