Phablets reduce sales of 7-inch and 9-inch tablets

A recent study carried out by NPD Display Search reveals that the market for tablets whose screen size is between 7 and 9 inches will suffer a significant slowdown due to the commitment of users to phablet devices with a large screen.

Already last year, the sale of tablets with a small screen reached the value of 58 percent. It seems that from now on, the 8-inch and 10-inch top screen displays will take over. According to the study, until 2018 tablets with this much larger screen size will be the main protagonists, a fact that the main manufacturers already seem to support. In fact, both Samsung and Microsoft, among others, already have larger models, such as the Galaxy Note Pro 12 inches, or the Surface Pro 3 also the same size.

Manzanafor its part, it is expected to launch its new Iphone 6, from which it is collected that there will be two different versions, as already happens with the current iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. On this occasion, the size of the screens could vary depending on the model, considering one of 4.7 inches and another of 5.5 inches. The latter would become part of the phones called phablets due to the size of their screen.

NPD Display Search predicts that the growth of the tablet market will reach 14 percent in 2014 and by 2017 the growth will be somewhat lower, around 9 percent. And it is that the arrival of wearable devices such as bracelets or smart watches, will also begin to displace the current use that we make of tablets.
