What it offers is what everyone would expect from a mid-range, added to a couple of aspects that stand out such as a double camera and the 18: 9 aspect ratio display. This last feature is key, since most modern mobiles have reduced frames.
Of course, for those who are used to seeing Huawei equipment, the design of this new equipment could be quite familiar. And it is very evident that it has borrowed some details from the Honor 7X, although with a smaller screen. However, the rest is almost the same. Design
The Huawei P Smart shares some of its DNA with the Honor 7X, but also with the Mate 10 Lite and the P10 Lite. The reason for this is simple: these are very striking designs that have worked and are also very comfortable. There was no need to go further. Therefore it is to be expected that this new model does not disappoint.
The company has dressed the P Smart in the latest fashions. And is that this terminal has a screen “FullView” of 5.6 inches with a FullHD resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. With this amount it achieves a pixel density of 427 dpi. It also comes in the increasingly popular 18: 9 format, which makes the screen occupy 76.1% of the front of the equipment.
On the other hand, this display is extra tall and with cropped top and bottom bezels. All in a slim, streamlined body. Its dimensions are 150.1 x 72.05 mm, with a thickness of just 7.45 mm and a weight of 165 grams.
The Huawei P Smart has an aluminum body, but since it has to stay within budget to be in the mid-range, it also has some plastic parts. Because the back is metallic, it is less susceptible to scratches. One of the most remarkable aspects of this smartphone is its camera. And is that like other equipment on the market, the P Smart includes a 13 + 2 MP dual rear camera with an f / 2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. Thanks to these characteristics it will be possible to take much more striking photos. As for the front camera, we found one that is not particularly extraordinary, but it works very well. Its 8 MP sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture.
On the other hand, an important detail that we cannot miss with the connections. In addition to the fingerprint reader that works quite well, the device has LTE, WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth and a microUSB port, although it is not type C. The headphone jack is still 3.5mm.
Finally, when talking about the specifications of the mobile it is essential to name the battery. This is a key element in today’s teams. Fortunately, the Huawei P Smart has a battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh that allows you to reach the night with a charge if it is used in between. But for better battery management, the mobile has two battery saving modes: the standard and the ultra efficient.
Use experience
The size of the Huawei P Smart makes it a very comfortable mobile to use, especially for those who are not used to handling equipment with such large screens. Thanks to its slim and rounded tip design it feels great in the hand, with a balanced weight. However, having a metal body on the back, it makes it slightly slippery.
The behavior of the screen of this equipment is quite good. Previous models had a good panel. But that of this mobile improves a bit, since it tends to offer less yellow tones, with better viewing angles, better contrast, a more calibrated color temperature and more brightness.
Regarding its performance, the team does not present large warm-ups and no speed drops. You may have some unexpected lag, but nothing extraordinarily troublesome. In performance tests, the Huawei P Smart has performed well. However, sometimes you can miss having a little more RAM. Still, most games can be enjoyed without a hitch, except for some titles.

Huawei hopes to repeat the success of the P8 Lite with the P Smart. However, even if part of the formula remains, it will not be an easy job. The competition today is much fiercer, especially in the mid-range. However, it is possible to say that this new terminal has some elements that could help you along the way.
On the one hand, the 18: 9 format of its screen and the double camera brings it closer to the most desired equipment on the market. This evolution in design will help you gain some following. This without counting its affordable price (259 euros), which will also facilitate your work.
