Mobile phones with the best camera for less than 300 euros

Realme X2 Pro camera

Among so many mobile phones of 800, 900 or even more than 1,000 euros we can sometimes forget that cheap mobiles are not what they used to be. Until not too many years ago, buying a mobile phone corresponding to the so-called "mid-range" involved learning to live with certain commitments that only the most expensive smartphones lacked several hundred euros.

Usually one of those commitments was having to settle for a much lower quality camera to that of the main exponents in terms of mobile photography. However, over the years the gap has been narrowing considerably, up to the point where a mobile phone of less than 500 euros can offer a photographic experience at the level of the best on the market.

But you don't even need to spend 500 euros to have a mobile with a good camera. In fact, it is possible to find terminals of less than 300 euros able to deliver outstanding results:

OPPO Reno, rear design

Although it may go unnoticed among the hundreds of mid-range phones from China, OPPO Reno, which we analyzed at the time, is a very important model to consider. Its camera system is quite different from other terminals in the same range, since it only has two cameras behind, a rear, main, 48-megapixel resolution, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

It may not be the most versatile system. However, OPPO has proven to be one of the firms whose software in charge of processing the images manages to generate very good quality results in most situations, by avoiding falling into the hands of other manufacturers, including the extreme smoothing of faces or the tendency to excessively raise the shadows of the scene, thus eliminating part of the contrast and the depth of the photo.

Our choice

Any of the three options selected offer a good result in photographic terms taking into account the range to which they belong. However, if we had to opt for a model, it would be the OPPO reindeer.

The simple fact of being the first model in a series that is already in its third generation implies that its price has plummeted, and it is already possible to acquire it for less than 300 euros. In exchange, we took a terminal with a fantastic design, a photographic system that, despite sinning with a certain lack of versatility, offers much higher than average image quality, and whose technical sheet, in addition, makes it a most interesting terminal even in the middle of 2020.
