Rather than getting tangled up in simple and boring words, emojis allow us to style, emphasize, and feel our virtual conversations or text messages. Since arriving in the late 1990s from Japan, these smiling faces and ideograms have changed the way we express ourselves. And these expressions are constantly expanding and evolving, so you should know how to update emojis according to your operating system.
Apple releases almost every year software updates, and with them come new emojis. In the last update of iOS 13 we received new special characters that we have been waiting for a long time. With Android it happens in a similar way, with each new update bringing its own and renewed emojis.
How to activate emojis on iOS
Activating emojis on the keyboard of Apple devices is simple. The first thing you should do is check if your device has the latest iOS update.
You must press the cone of Configuration (Settings) and thengeneral. Then press the option Keyboard (Keyboard), followed by Keyboards (Keyboards). Ah, you must select Add new keyboard (Add New Keyboard) to open a list of available keyboards and choose the option Emoji.
You have activated your emoji keyboard. To use it, open any application that allows you to write text messages, such as WhatsApp, Facebook or iMessage.
When you click on the space to write, you will see a balloon appear on the left side of the space bar. When you press it, the emoji keyboard will appear. At the bottom of the keyboard, you can see different emoji themes to choose from. The clock symbol on the left side shows you the last ones you have used.
But do you want more emojis? Applications like Emoji Free offer animated emojis, with different colors and fonts if you have time to unleash your creativity. Bitmoji allows you to make an emoji of yourself.
You can also download SwiftKey, an application that predicts which emoji you will use, based on your previous use of these cones.
How to activate emojis on Android
Android users have several ways to install emojis. The first thing you should do is make sure that your cell phone can read and write emojis. You can confirm this by visiting a page that has emojis.
If most of the icons can be seen, then you can, otherwise you will not be able to see anything, but only blank spaces.
Although the current version is Android 10, there are still models with Android 4.1 or that come with add-on emojis. These allow Android users to use special characters in all the cell's writing spaces.
To activate them, you must open the menu Configuration (Settings) and press the option Language (Language & Input). Then select Keyboard and input methods (Keyboard & Input Methods) and finally select Google keyboard (Google keyboard). Press Advanced Options (Advanced) and enable the option Emojis for physical keyboard (Emoji for physical keyboard).
Now that you have activated the emojis, you will see a happy face on the right side of the space bar. Similar to iOS, Android users have several options on where to select. Depending on the device, you will get different types of emoji.
If your Android does not come with an option to view and send emojis, you should look for a tool in the Google Play store. Third party apps like SwiftKey, Swype and Fleksy include emojis. SMS Rage Faces also offers funny faces and stickers that you can send to your family and friends.
