WhatsApp is the most popular messenger service on the planet, with more than 2,000 million active users per month. Its popularity is explained, in part, to its user-friendly interface and the fact that it is available on multiple platforms.
However, users had been claiming a particular function for some time. The dark mode is now available for Twitter and Gmail, as well as iOS and Android, but it has taken a little longer to reach WhatsApp.
Obviously, it was already possible to use it through external applications that allow you to change the color of the interface, but now it can be done from the app owned by Facebook. We explain how to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp.
How to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp on Android
For now, the dark mode in WhatsApp is only available for devices with Android 9 Pie or later installed. If you have Android 10, this option will be activated automatically if you have activated the dark mode in your smartphone.
If this is not your case, you should follow the steps below:
one. Update the WhatsApp app through the Google Play Store.
two. Open WhatsApp If you already have the app open, you should close it and reopen it.
3. Go to WhatsApp Settings.
4. There, select the Chats option.
5. Touch on the Theme option and then you can choose the Dark theme. Touch Light to return to normal mode.
It is important to make clear that this feature is not available on all devices with a recent version of Android installed. For example, the skin Huawei EMUI does not have this option, even the devices that work with Google Play services.
How to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp on iOS
The dark mode in WhatsApp is also available for iOS, although only on iPhones with iOS 13 or later installed. Luckily, most likely yours is compatible, and Apple's devices are compatible with the new software for years.
As with Android 10, the dark mode will be activated automatically if you have it activated on the system itself, which can also be programmed only for the night. Unfortunately, you cannot have the dark mode activated only in WhatsApp and not in the interface.
How to activate the dark mode in WhatsApp for computer
The dark mode for now is not available for the WhatsApp version for computer, but it seems that it will not take long to arrive. Or at least as indicated by a tweet published by Mahesh B Wijerathna, who claims to be the developer.
I've been developing the Dark mode for @WhatsApp desktop for sometime now and i just saw these updates on v0.4.930 which has their signature dark color. They might release the dark mode soon. Here's how it looks at the moment. Pinging @WABetaInfo pic.twitter.com/JFc40rvZgY

If you can't wait, we recommend using a plug-in available for Firefox and Google Chrome with which you can get a kind of dark mode version of WhatsApp. This will give you an idea of what to be when it finally arrives for the computer.
