Apple patents an iPhone with "surround screen" on all sides

The design of the iPhone changed forever a couple of years ago with a screen that was closer than ever to the edges of the device. This is a general trend of the smartphone market, most of the actal devices are committed to a panel adjusted to the maximum and Apple has patented an even more extreme design.

This last patent application approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office shows us a device that is all screenliterally. The screen of this iphonen completely returns the device, both at the edges and at the back.

Apple has titled this patent as "Electronic device with glass housing." But the proposed device is much more radical than that name implies. The front and back, both sides and even the top and bottom of the phone are a unique screen enveloping and uninterrupted

In addition to the futuristic design, Apple also describes that the operating system will be perfectly adapted, "_The main user interface can extend over a front side, one or more peripheral sides and the back side of the device, this can allow the icons to move across multiple surfaces when sliding, and can even allow the icons or other graphic outputs appear as a user interface similar to a tape that surrounds the device. ”

Obviously for this concept to come true there are many challenges to meet. On the one hand we do not have any type of physical button or hole in that screen, so placing the speakers, cameras or SIM card will be a big challenge. We do not have a charging port either, although we already know that you can have the days counted on the iPhone.

We already saw concepts that were close to this patent, although they left the back free of screens. It is certainly a spectacular design, but I sincerely believe that technology is not yet ready for something like that to be manufactured.
