What is Microsoft OneDrive? It is the name of the Microsoft cloud services. In the same way that Google has Google Drive and Apple has iCloud, Microsoft provides OneDrive for people to store and exchange data online. If you are a Microsoft user, you can access it at any time from the OneDrive website.
As cloud services have grown, OneDrive has increasingly adopted features. The version you see today is a network of several services, which means that using OneDrive can be confusing for newcomers. To help you understand everything, let's start by dividing OneDrive into two main components.
This is the OneDrive that you see when you open Windows 10 on your computer: it is set up when you log in with your Microsoft account and you will find the storage available in File Explorer. On Microsoft computers, it is the default option for saving documents or files, which can help save space on your storage drive.
Like many cloud storage services, you get several up to 5 GB with the free OneDrive Plan, but if you need more space, you have to pay to get more storage. You can get 1 TB of OneDrive space for free with most Office 365 Home or Personal plans, which means that OneDrive also makes it easier to synchronize and exchange information and documents between your Windows devices.
OneDrive for business
OneDrive is the general data management system for Office365, it is responsible for keeping all Office 365 services together. It allows employees to share documents, track projects, enter data automatically, collaborate online, secure their data and much more. If you are viewing Office 365 features for your business, the data in those features almost certainly is channeled through OneDrive.
Because OneDrive is involved in so many Microsoft services, it updates it frequently, approximately every two weeks. Note that there is a version of OneDrive for Windows and a version for MacOS, and they are updated separately. Now let's take a closer look at how OneDrive is connected to the Microsoft environment.
OneDrive to manage all your data
Microsoft wants you to use OneDrive to store and synchronize all your data between all your devices. That's why it's launching OneDrive applications on all platforms and offers you 1 TB of online storage per device with an Office 365 subscription. Office 365 Home subscription provides 1TB of OneDrive storage for up to five devices, which at $ 100 dollars a year or $ 10 dollars a month, is an attractive proposal.
Microsoft knows that it can never fill that space with only documents. But basically you can store anything in OneDrive and its perfect integration with Windows 10 and several applications ensure that your files are backed up, synchronized and easily accessible.
Why would you want to use OneDrive?
Until now, cloud storage was simply a means of sharing files with others or transferring them from one device to another. However, as storage space becomes more affordable, cloud storage is becoming an increasingly attractive backup solution, as long as you don't mind that someone else is managing your data. The main benefit of OneDrive is that it syncs across all platforms and integrates with the services and applications you already use, including Windows, Office, Outlook and more.
While attractive, OneDrive should not be your only backup solution. Using the OneDrive application in Windows 10
Microsoft has also provided a OneDrive application in Windows 10 that has the same functionality and approximately the same experience as the web interface and you can use it to save, delete, manage and share files. To share files with the OneDrive application, simply do right click in a file or folder and select Share in the context menu. You can invite people through a link or email, and see people who share files and folders. You can also see all your shared files by clicking on the people icon in the left sidebar of the application.
OneDrive integrates with Cortana and Windows Search
Cortana, Microsoft's virtual assistant, has been available for a long time in Windows 10. It can not only answer questions, but when you select Search for, you can search your files, including those stored in OneDrive and not synchronized with your device. You can then access those files from the search results. Fortunately, Cortana also responds to both voice control and keyboard inputs entered in the Windows search bar. Use the application Photos in Windows 10

This will work on both Android and iOS, as long as you install the OneDrive application and use it to synchronize your photos.
