Today is giving a lot of play, it does not reach the level that MWC 2020 would have given, but it is leaving us very interesting devices such as those presented by Sony or Realme. However, there is one that has grabbed our attention in recent hours and which we have been able to try now, we talk about the new Huawei folding smartphone, the Huawei Mate Xs, which comes with the dubious honor of sweeping its predecessors in price at a cost of 2,499 (I hope you're sitting reading this)
A terminal that improves its design at a great cost
Huawei has presented us with this terminal as an evolution of the model that showed us in 2019, although with the same design. As they say, the improvements bring them under the cap, while visually there seems to be no changes. The Huawei Mate Xs He has worked on the points that other folding models have suffered most, highlighting the efforts on his hinge and in the gaps so that dust or other objects that could damage his screen could be introduced.

The Huawei Mate Xs screen measures 8 inches deployed, while folded it stays in a 6.6-inch main and a 6.38-inch rear. The difference is carried by a side where the four main cameras are housed, an unlock button, the side fingerprint sensor and the volume controls.
This screen is one of the points that have been improved, being now composed of two layers of aerospace grade polyimide that have been bonded with an optically transparent adhesive. This makes it more resistant, but maintaining image quality, colors and brightness.
In the hinge area we now have a renewed design to be more effective, but especially to make it much more resistant. For this Huawei has developed a bisagra with a design they have called "Falcon Wing", built with liquid metal with zirconium base that promises to be a 30% stronger than a titanium alloy version.
Inside the processor has been renewed, now mounting a Kirin 990 5G eight-core, four Cortex-A76 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.86GHz, which is accompanied by a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU and an NPU built in Huawei Da Vinci architecture. The processor has a integrated 5G modem, compatible with NSA and SA networks, which they have compared to the Galaxy Fold, stating that Its download speed is 88% higher and 30% higher than Samsung's folding.
Another improvement that has been added is the “flexible binic graphite” cooling system, which has managed to adjust the heat dissipation to the folding design of the device, keeping the temperature under control even at times of high demands.
As for the cameras, the Mate Xs has the system SuperSensing Leica Quad Camera, with a 40MP main camera (wide angle, f / 1.8), 16MP ultra wide angle camera (f / 2.2), 8MP telephoto camera (f / 2.4, OIS) with hybrid zoom up to 30X and a sensor 3D ToF. A system that serves as both a rear camera and a front camera that boasts of being able to capture up to ISO 204800 and macro photos at only 2.5 cm.
Price and availability
Not long ago, we were surprised at the terminals that exceeded the 1000 barrier, a figure that soon surpassed easily. Now the Huawei Mate Xs takes us to almost obscene figures, and that is getting the new Huawei folding terminal will cost you 2,499.
Of course, you can acquire it in Spain next March, date on which the launch will be made globally. Of course, we must not forget that it comes with EMUI 10 based on Android 10 AOSP, without Google services and applications.
