The political party Vox has opened an account on TikTok, the app of short music videos, by way of reaction by blocking your Twitter, which has been suspended for about 20 days. In addition, Vox has also created a profile in Gab, a popular social network among American conservatives.
TikTok is an application where users upload short videos (just a few seconds), especially musical and humorous. That a political party like Vox opens a TikTok is indicative of the growth of the platform, with more and more personalities. Without going any further, a few days ago singer Rosala opened her TikTok.
In the case of the formation led by Santiago Abascal, the decision also has a protest component. Twitter has suspended the Vox account, considering that one of its tweets incites hatred. Specifically, a response to the socialist Adriana Lastra about the parental PIN, where Vox affected him that "with public money he promoted pedophilia."
Opening a TikTok adds a new communication channel, since the situation with Twitter is stagnant: the social network only activates the account if Vox deletes the tweet, but the party is not willing and has even sent a burofax threatening legal action.
The potential public of TikTok is much smaller, but it is booming. The username chosen on TikTok is @vox_espana and for now he only has one video, with Abascal in his office looking at TikTok's own app.
The video has almost reached 200,000 views in just a few hours, but the number of followers grows much slower, and for now it does not reach 9,000. At the moment, TikTok has not verified the profile, although there is no doubt about its authenticity, as party members have promoted it.
On the other hand, Vox supporters have been using Gab for a long time, a social network that limits freedom of expression less than Twitter, and is popular with right-wing voters in the United States.
Now Vox has created a Gab's own profile with the name @vox_espana_ to have an official voice, where it is to imagine that they do not suffer limitations to express their political opinions.
Twitter believes that harassment and hate speech are its big problems, and has taken many measures to improve coexistence in the social network, almost always generating controversies, either because it is not strong enough, or because it is too much.
In fact, Twitter has created specific rules for Donald Trump and other world leaders, as their general rules were complicated to apply to politicians.
However, it seems unlikely that Twitter will change its mind with Vox, a small country match like Spain. So Gab and TikTok should replace their suspended profile, although in the case of TikTok there is a moderation system that could become problematic.
We must think that maybe the Vox profile on TikTok is rather musical And don't make too much policy, because the short video app is in full growth, and many of its new users must adapt to a very peculiar format.
