It is if the two halves of the large screen would be flush or if there would be a crest given the mechanics of the sliding screen.
That said, the advantage of such a system, as Jessica Dolcourt of CNET points out, is that this system does not mean that you worry about wrinkles on a flexible screen or damaged hinges.
