We explain how to create a web page with Mac or MacBook

Creating your own website may seem like a difficult task, but depending on the type of website you choose, it will be much easier than you imagine. In this article we explain how to create a website using your Mac computer.

We will help you start creating a basic website, with your own custom domain registration that you can use to add the content you want. If you are looking for something more complex, we recommend you learn through one of the Udemy web development courses.

What do you need to start a web page

If you want to create a web page, these are the points that you have to keep in mind:

  • A hosting to host your website
  • Buy a domain for your website
  • Design and build your page

Obviously, this is just what you need to get started, since building a website from scratch is a fairly complex process that we are not going to fully address in this article. We offer you the basic foundations for you to start building.

Hosting for your own website

Web pages require a hosting on a server The easiest way is to rent a space on a server. This will cost you some money, there are annual and monthly subscriptions as you prefer.

These are some of our sites to find hosting for your favorite website:

  • 123-reg: one of the suppliers of hosting and largest domains worldwide.
  • SiteGround: known and with a global reputation, highly recommended.
  • TSOHost: It has very good integration with WordPress
  • Fatcock: offer good customer service. A very popular option for small businesses.

These are just a few examples, but there are many more companies that offer this type of services. The one you choose to depend on you, what you want to spend and the web that you trust the most.

Get a domain for your website

When you have chosen a service hosting and you have registered, you will have bought a small part of the website that has its own IP (Internet Protocol) address.

An IP address is based on a series of four sets of numbers separated by periods (such as 123.123.12.32). The introduction of this IP address in a web browser takes it to the server through the Internet and returns the website associated with it.

Obviously nobody goes around remembering these IP addresses, so you need to get a name easier to remember as "webdesara.com", or whatever you want to call it. This name is called a domain (although this strictly refers to the bit at the end, the '.co.uk' or '.net' bit).

To do this, you must search for your preferred name and domain on a domain registration site. If available, you can rent it for one year and link it to your IP address. Now, when someone connects and enters the domain, it takes them to your IP address, which is where your website will be hosted.

There are many domain registration services available, but if you can obtain a domain registration through the same company from hosting, It will be easier for them to link the domain directly to their hosting service, and easier to make changes online as well.

How to design a web page on Mac

Once you have configured the hosting and domain name registration, it is time to create your website.

There are many ways to accomplish this, most of the basic websites combine the use of HTML documents, CSS documents (for design and layout) and image files. HTML and CSS are not difficult to learn, and acquiring basic HTML knowledge is a good idea if you plan on entering web design.
