Now it's the turn of the Lite version of the Mate 20 series. Save battery by changing the screen resolution
The jump of resolution HD to Full HD makes the Mate 20 panel consume much more energy than its predecessors. The good news is that Huawei allows change the virtual resolution of the screen through the Settings of EMUI to reduce its energy consumption. How?
Within Settings, and more specifically in the Screen section, click on Screen resolution and then on Resolution HD (1,560 x 720), but not before deactivating the Smart Resolution option. Automatically all the content shown on the screen will be broadcast in 720p. Videos, games, images …
Record the screen of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite without applications
One of the most relevant news of EMUI 9 has to do precisely with the possibility of recording the screen without downloading external applications. The option in question can be found in the EMUI notification bar, as we can see in the image below.
If the setting is not available in the aforementioned notification bar, we can enable it by clicking on the Pencil icon to edit the Quick Settings to be displayed.
After clicking on the Recording icon, the system will start recording everything that appears on the screen with the resolution that we have previously defined. Also the audio collected through the microphone of the phone.
Hide videos, images and files in the Mate 20 Lite
Another quite useful option that the Huawei Mate 20 Lite include as standard is Safe, a function that allows us to select everything we do not want to be shown in the rest of applications (WhatsApp, Gallery, File Explorer …) to hide it later.
This function can be found within Security and privacy. Simply create a custom password and select all those elements that we want to hide from other applications installed on Android. They may be images, videos, sound files, documents and any element present in the device memory. To access the hidden files again, yes, we will have to use the aforementioned Safe feature.
Customize the Huawei Mate 20 Lite with third-party themes
Did you know that you can install third-party themes on your Mate 20 Lite to customize the phone to your liking? Thanks to these we can even change the appearance of the icons, the colors of the system or the typeface of Android.
To download these themes, it is best to use the Themes application for Huawei that can be found in the Google Play Store. Also we can install the themes directly from the mentioned store.
When we have downloaded the application we will only have to select some of the themes available in the store. To apply the subject in question We will have to go to the Topics section that we can find in Settings. Check out this collection of forty themes and wallpapers from Huaweipara to customize the mobile to your liking.
Add an application drawer in the Huawei launcher
If something characterizes EMUI is that it does not include an application drawer by default in its launcher. For this purpose we will have to resort to external applications, as is the case with Nova Launcher… So it was until now.
To add an application drawer with all the applications installed on the device we will have to go to theMain screen style section in the Screen section in Settings. Within this option we can choose between two types of distribution: the traditional distribution of EMUI without an application drawer and the natural distribution of Android with a drawer. If we choose the latter we can organize the applications according to different criteria: alphabetically, date of installation, frequency of use …
Remove the name of the operator in the notification bar
Natively, EMUI shows the name of the SIM card operator at one end of the notification bar. Orange, Vodafone, Movistar, Yoigo, Tuenti, Amena … The good news is that we can hide the name in question through the System Settings.
To do this, just go to the Screen section in the Settings application. In more screen settings click on the option Hide the operator name and activate the corresponding tab to make the operator name disappear.
Turn on notifications on the lock screen on the Huawei Mate 20 Lite
Although the mid-range of Huawei does not have Always On Display, the function that turns on the screen constantly to view incoming notifications, it does have an option that allows you to activate the screen with the reception of notifications, which translates in which we can see their content on the lock screen.
For this we will have to refer to the Notifications section in Settings and then actup to more notification settings. Of all the options, the one that interests us is that of Notifications activates the screen, an option that we will have to activate to achieve our mission.
Reduce the size of the virtual screen
We will not deny it: the screen of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is not for all audiences and hands. Fortunately, Huawei has integrated a fairly useful function that allows us to reduce the screen size in a virtual way to reach all ends of the screen with one hand.
As a general rule, this function is activated as standard in most Huawei phones. With the Android virtual bar activewe will make a sliding gesture from the lower left or right corner to the centerof the screen, becoming a diagonal.
Depending on the side where we have executed the gesture, the screen will be reduced to the left or right. Unfortunately this function not compatible with EMUI gestures, so we will have to resort to the traditional Android bar with Start, Back and Recent Apps buttons.
Improve the performance of the Mate 20 Lite by accelerating the animations
Probably one of the tricks with more solera on Android. A good way to improve phone performance is precisely to speed up system animations. With this, we will achieve a better performance when opening applications, switching to multitasking or interacting with the different mens of applications.
Before proceeding with the adjustment we will have to activate the Development Settings, which we can access by referring to the System in Settings section. Then we will leave to the About phone section and we will finally press a total of seven times on Compilation number. Now we will only have to go back to System again and access the aforementioned configuration.
Within this configuration we will have to find the following settings:
- Transition scale animation
- Window animation scale
- Animator duration scale
If we want to accelerate the Huawei Mate 20 Lite we will have to set the figure to 0.5. We can also choose 0.0 to disable animations completely, although it is not recommended if we want to maintain a fluidity curve in the phone.
Block access to applications with a password
The last trick of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite that deserves special mention is a security option that allows us to protect applications with a password, a password that can be based on a fingerprint on the face (through facial recognition) or in a simple pattern Unlock
The process is as simple as going to Settings; specifically up to security and privacy. Within this section click on Application Lockand we will select all those applications that we want to block. After which, EMUI asks us to register a password or pattern and the method of unlocking that we have previously registered (fingerprint, facial recognition …).
Take a screenshot by sliding three fingers
Making screenshots on Huawei is as simple as pressing the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time. With EMUI we will only have to perform a sliding gesture with three fingers from the center of the screen down.
Within Settings, specifically in theControl Movements section in Smart Assistance, we will activate the option Capture against fingers to proceed with the mentioned function. If we keep all three fingers on the screen we can even make a slide capture, that is, the entire web page application.
