With streaming short videos, Quibi makes his debut in 2020

Transmission of videos whose duration does not exceed 10 minutes and is only seen through mobile devices. With this strategy, the Quibi platform intends to introduce from April 6, 2020 a new ingredient to the increasingly large market of streaming services.

The launch date was confirmed within the framework of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 in Las Vegas, by Quibi founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, who anticipated that his audience will be young viewers.

Quibi announced that when it goes on the market to have 175 original programs and 8,500 quick bits ("Quick bites") between four and seven minutes long. The subscription will cost $ 5 per month with ads or $ 8 per month without notices.

One of the most striking features that Quibi can count on is the possibility of viewing the content from different perspectives, as you hold your phone: horizontally you will have a cinematic view, while vertically you see the perspective of the character.

The platform also seduced Hollywood. For this reason, it has been associated with big names, such as Steven Spielberg, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Reese Witherspoon, Zac Efron and others to participate in the development of their content.

Spielberg had anticipated in 2019 that he was working on a horror story for the application with a specific timer, so you can only see it after it gets dark, to give you the best horror effect.

Other content you can expect are Cup of Joe, a travel program with Joe Jonas, called, Chrissys Court; another on courts starring Chrissy Teigen, and Beauty, a docuserie from Tyra Banks. In addition, the popular re-release Legends of the Hidden Temple, which in the 90's Nickelodeon issued.

The market for streaming services of films and series is increasingly numerous, so Quibi wants to excel by providing short episodes, rather than the more extensive programming to which we are accustomed.

Quibi must compete against major players such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and the latest Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus, but since it is intended to be seen exclusively on your phone, you can have a niche in this segment.
