How to activate the RCS messenger in Google Messages
You must complete some steps to activate the RCS messenger, but it is important to take into account the specific requirements: RCS must have been enabled in your region and by your operator, but most importantly, keep in mind that RCS needs a mobile data connection or Wi-Fi to use the new chat features. Without a data connection, they will not work. Of course, without connection, you will return SMS messages to travel, so it is not a decisive factor for many but it is definitely something to consider if you have a limited amount of mobile data.
First, you should use Google Messages as the main text messaging application. Some phones, such as those running Android One or Google Pixel, will already do so as a default messaging application, but if they don't, you should download the Messages application from the Play Store and open it. You will be asked to set it as the default messenger application, but if you skip that step by mistake, you can change your default messenger application by going toConfiguration, then pressing Applications and notifications > Advanced > Default applications > SMS application. Then select the Messages application as your default messaging application.
Next, you should open the Messages application and open the settings by touching the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and selecting Settings. From there, play Chat functions Y Enable chat features to activate the RCS messenger. A new bar will appear on the option, and display Settings in orange while you are verified. When you're done, read Connected in green. If not, press retry and verify that RCS is enabled in your region and with your operator.
