Given the alarmism generated by these groups, it is not surprising that there are those who are infected with these fears and fear what the 5G arrival I can do to your health. But are there really reasons to worry? The truth is that there are other issues to worry about much more and, of course, climate change is one of them.

The 5G refers to the fifth generation of wireless technology for digital mobile networks.

Now, should we fear these new frequencies or even those that were already used before? It is necessary to start from the basis of non-ionizing radiation and, as such, are not able to produce DNA alterations that can contribute to the development of diseases such as cancer. Despite that, it is true that it is not safe to use them anyway. For this reason there are institutions such as International Commission for the Protection of Non-Ionizing Radiation (ICNIRP), whose role is to evaluate the available scientific evidence, determining at what levels effects occur. This does not only affect mobile phones or WiFi, but also the entire radio frequency spectrum from 100kHz to 300 GHz, which will go from the AM, FM, TETRA radio stations, amateur radio, mobile, antennas and radars, clarifies Njera. In addition, they evaluate in infrared and the visible spectrum-think about photodepilation-, much more energetic than what concerns us with 5G.

And what has ICNIRP said about this fifth generation technology? Basically, that the frequencies used are far below what is established as dangerous. He explains in BBC one of the advisors of the committee, the professor Rodney Croft: "The exposure produced by 5G has been considered in depth by ICNIRP and restrictions have been established below the lowest level of related radio frequency that has been seen to cause damage."

Also the World Health Organization He recalled that electromagnetic frequency exposures below the limits recommended in the ICNIRP regulations do not appear to have any known consequences on health and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE, for its acronym in English) has published an update of its guidelines on radiofrequency exposure limits in which nothing is changed with respect to the provisions of 3G and 4G.
