This was a fantastic year for laptops at CES 2020. Our favorite conventional laptops became more refined, and we had the opportunity to see exciting new designs. Dozens of them were announced and we tried as many as possible to show you the best of this year.
Dell XPS 13
Some things are a certainty at CES, and the presence of a new XPS 13 is one of them. However, this year it is something more than an improvement in its specifications: it is a total redesign of the XPS 13, which now sports a new 16:10 screen and a reduced lower bezel that makes this laptop feel as if it were pure screen In addition, the new XPS 13 has a more comfortable keyboard, a larger touch panel and even an infrared camera for Windows Hello.
This was already the best laptop you can buy, but with the changes presented by Dell this year, they have managed to make it even more outstanding.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold
We know that CES 2020 will be full of ads related to folding laptops, but it was Lenovo's that impressed us most. It's a 4K OLED screen that doubles in half like the Galaxy Fold; You can use it as a tablet, but also as an e-book reader and as a normal laptop.
With dual-screen laptops, the keyboard issue can be complicated, but Lenovo solved it well. The keyboard is incorporated into the device to offer a neat portable package. The 13-inch OLED 4: 3 screen is beautiful, regardless of the orientation in which you use it. Even though I still don't have the support of Windows 10X, it's the most compelling implementation we've seen of a dual-screen device.
Samsung Galaxy Chromebook
The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is bold, and we don't mean just its bright red color. For starters, it's the first Chromebook with a 13.3-inch AMOLED 4K screen. Virtually everything on the Galaxy Chromebook is top-notch, from the quality of its aluminum body to its incredibly portable size. This could be the most refined laptop Samsung has ever created.
Of course, quality is not free. Even with the tenth generation Intel Core i5 processor, $ 999 is a lot for a Chromebook. Even so, that did not prevent the incredible engineer that Samsung exhibits with this laptop impressed us.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14
AMD caused a sensation this year with its powerful Ryzen 4 mobile processors, although not many laptops include these new chips. However, the ROG Zephyrus G14, a beautiful gaming laptop with bright programmable lights on the lid, highlighted. Despite being a smaller, 14-inch and half-kilogram laptop, the Zephyrus G14 has an 8-core processor and even an RTX 2060 graphics card. Impressive power in a surprisingly small package.
HP Specter x360 15
Like many of our favorite laptops, the Specter x360 15 was refined to near perfection. The diamond-cut edges are still there, just like the fantastic keyboard and the option of a 4K OLED screen. However, when putting Specter 2020 next to the previous model, the difference is obvious. HP reduced the bezels to create a smaller and more efficient laptop. It is as portable as the XPS 15, and with the option to include the latest Intel and Nvidia equipment, it is just as powerful.
Dell Concept Duet
Dell brought some interesting conceptual computers to CES 2020, but one of the most attractive was the Duet, a device with two 13-inch screens. That gives it an incredibly futuristic look, and with Dell's patented slim bezels, it feels like the modern PC we always wanted to see.
But the two screens are just the beginning. It also has a detachable keyboard that magnetically joins the bottom of the screen when you need to type intensely. It's like the Surface Neo, but on a larger scale. This year is a concept, but we will definitely be pending.
HP Elite Dragonfly
The Dragonfly was launched a couple of months ago, but HP brought a new version to CES 2020. Although it doesn't look so different, HP made some interesting changes to this second generation. First, Dragonfly is now one of the most sustainable laptops ever created. Its body is made of recyclable materials, and in other elements plastic is used that would have ended at the bottom of the ocean. In addition, HP added 5G compatibility, making this one of the most advanced business laptops we've seen.
