When talking about productivity tasks such as video editing, AMD's Ryzen 3000 series is practically unsurpassed in terms of price-performance. Although there are more powerful and more affordable processors than the one we choose, few are as good a purchase as the Ryzen 7 3700X. With eight cores, 16 threads and a clock speed that can reach 4.4Ghz, there are few tasks that it cannot cope with.
An alternative is the Ryzen 2700X, which is more affordable and also has eight cores, although its clock speed and performance are slightly lower. The Ryzen 3600 is priced similar to the last generation chip; It has two less cores but a higher clock speed and the performance of a single thread.
For our project we do not need many high-end functions on a motherboard, so we opted for a decent mid-range MSI B450M. It has support for a lot of high-speed memory, has a shielded PCIe x16 port to prevent the graphics processing unit from loosening and has voltage regulating modules to support the automatic over-acceleration of the Ryzen 3700X.
One detail you should know is that this card, when purchased, may not be compatible with the processor we choose. For that you may need a BIOS update. You can use another AMD Ryzen 3000, if you have it, or you can also use an AMD starter kit for free.
Video editing requires lots of memory. If the budget had allowed us to include 64 GB we would have done it, but 32 GB of high speed RAM is a good midpoint. It is affordable and has sufficient speed to work with our Ryzen 3700X. If you can afford faster memory, the processor can work with up to 3,600 MHz, but 3,200 MHz is fast enough.
It is necessary to use a decent graphics card to render GPU accelerated rendering, and the XFX Radeon RX 580 with 8 GB of VRAM is a great solution. It is not the fastest graphics processing unit in the world, so we suggest you use something more robust if you work with many 3D effects, but for common tasks and some heavier ones, this card will work perfectly.
If you edit 4K material you will need a lot of storage space. The Crucial high-speed solid state drive with 1TB guarantees your fast access to all your material, and the 2TB Seagate hard drive gives you plenty of backup space.
You don't need an incredible cabinet or cooling equipment for a PC that you use to edit video; What you need is a place to put all your powerful hardware.
