You do not know how to take full advantage of your brand new Huawei? Or have you lost yourself among the dozens of options that EMUI presents, the personalization layer of the Asian firm? Unlike other brands, Huawei has a software layer loaded with options and functions that allow us to expand the phone's features, options that are not always in sight. Let's see some of them.

Use your voice to take pictures without your hands
Tired of taking group photos with a selfie stick or resorting to a third person to take the snapshot? Thanks to the Voice Control function of the Huawei Camera application we can take pictures saying "Cheese" (pronouncedShiites) or shouting loudly until the noise level reaches a preset decibel level.
To find this function we will have to go to the Advanced Settings of the Camera application by sliding the main interface to the left. Finally we will go to the Audio Control section and we will finally activate the only two options available.
Print images and documents without applications
Until recently, printing any document or image from the phone requires a third-party application, which generally corresponds to the application of the printer manufacturer (EPSON, Brother …). With EMUI we can print any document directly from the layer options as long as both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
Within the Gallery or File Explorer of Huawei we will click on the three options points and then About Print or export to PDF. Then the wizard will allow us to configure the format of the print (paper size, orientation of the sheet, color …).
Finally we will click on the drop-down menu of All printers. After synchronizing the phone with the printer in our environment, click on print to send the document to the queue.
Share the WiFi password with a QR code
From EMUI the mobile phones of the Chinese firm enjoy a function that allows us to share the password of the WiFi network to which we are connected through a QR code. If we have another phone of the same brand we will only have to use the camera application to scan the code and automatically connect to the network.
To make use of this function, simply go to the Wi-Fi section within Wireless connections and networks and click on the Wi-Fi network to which we are connected. Automatically generate a QR code that we can share with any phone.
Duplicate the mobile image on a TV
If we have a TV with Screencast or Screen Mirror function, we can make use of a quite useful function to watch movies and series from our mobile as long as both devices are connected to the same WiFi network.
We will have to make sure that the Projection option is active on the TV.
Within the Settings application we will go to Connection of the device and then to Wireless Projection. Next, the phone will start searching for compatible TVs through the WiFi network.
After synchronizing with our main TV, the device image will be broadcast directly on the TV: from applications and the system to videos or images.
Connect the mobile to an external monitor and turn it into a PC
Did you know that you can connect the phone to an external monitor and use it as if it were a computer? The function in question is compatible only with some high-end models, such as the Huawei Mate 20 or the Huawei P30, both two with USB connection type C 3.1.
If we meet the requirements, just connect the phone to the monitor through an adapter to HDMI or USB type C. Then the mobile image will be broadcast on the monitor screen with a new interface similar to the one we can see above this paragraph. The ideal way to use the phone as a computer is to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse.
Lock applications with the fingerprint
Until a few years ago blocking applications with a password was something less than tedious. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Galley… Today we can do it through the options of the layer, either with an alphanumeric password or through the fingerprint.
The way to proceed in this case is as simple as going to Settings, and more specifically to Security and privacy. Once inside this optionwe will go to the option of App Lock.
After registering our fingerprint, we will select all those applications that we want to block through a password or with our fingerprint. Also we can make use of facial unlocking to block applications.
Hide files and photographs of the Galley
In addition to applications and shortcuts, Huawei's customization layer allows us to hide items from the Gallery, such as images or videos, as well asAlso files and documents with any type of extension inside the EMUI File Explorer. How?
Within the section of Security and privacy in Settings we can findan option with the name of Safe. Simply register a new password to control access to this function.
Once we have correctly configured the application we will have to select through the Huawei File Explorer all those files (images, videos, sounds …) and documents that we want to hide both in the Gallery and in any other file manager. To view hidden files again we will have to resort to the application Safe.
Change the theme and appearance of the phone
It is true that the latest versions of EMUI 10 have restricted the possibility of changing the mobile theme of the Chinese firm. It is also true that We can use third-party applications to install themes and change the appearance of the phone.
Themes for Huawei is the application that we will use this time, and We can download it from the Google store. We can also use issues independent of the application that can be found in Play Store and other alternative stores to this.
Once we have installed the application, we will only have to select some theme and apply it through the system options. Best of all, we can change the aesthetics of the system independently:from the system source to the application icons and the lock screen. To apply all the aesthetic changes we will have to go to the topics section that can be found in the EMUI Settings application.
Record the screen without third-party applications
The eighth version of EMUI introduced one of the most useful functions for Huawei phones with which we can record the screen without applications. The option in question can be foundthrough the Quick Settings bar. If this is not within the settings, we can find by clicking on the Edit option, as we can see in the screenshot below.

Once we have activated the recording, the system will start recording everything that is reproduced on the screen, including microphone audio if indicatedThe resolution of the resulting video depends on the resolution of the screen or the resolution that we have previously set in the Screen section in Settings.
Duplicate applications to have two accounts at once
Twin App is a native option of Huawei and Honor phones that allows us to duplicate the instance of an application to have two accounts at once. It is the case of WhatsApp or Facebook, although also of some games.
The number of applications compatible with Huawei Twin App is rather limited.
The option in question can be found within the Applications and notifications section in the EMUI Settings. After selecting the applications that we want to duplicate, the system create a new instance with a “empty” user that we can use in a totally independent way to the original application. Especially useful if we have installed two SIM cards in the phone.
Turn your Huawei mobile into an external battery
With the increased capacity of the battery of the latest Huawei releases the possibility of converting our phone into a powerbankacquires even more sense.
If our phone has reversible wireless charging, simply place the device on the latter to enable the charging process. Otherwise, we can use an OTG cable to power the device We want to load. This cable has a USB type C or micro USB male input and a female USB type A type output.

USB Type C to USB A OTG cable. It is recommended that the output be USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 so that the voltage is higher, and therefore, the charging speed.
Once we have connected the OTG adapter to the phone, Simply connect the charging cable to the adapter outlet to assign charge to the phone. It is not something that we should use when the battery percentage is lower than recommended (around 20%) to avoid possible damage to the battery module.
